Sick 5 days pre op
I posted yesterday about my husband being sick (headache, fatigue, vomiting, etc) yesterday. He finally agreed to go to the dr today and was diagnosed with a sinus infection and stomach virus. He's being put on antibiotics and is being given anti nausea medicine. Does anyone know if this infection will delay his sleeve surgery which is scheduled for Tuesday?
If he is sick why rush with the surgery? I'm sorry I have never understood the rush for surgery when your body needs to rest and heal. You are going through with a major surgery. Having the sleeve is no joke. He will be in pain and have nausea as well. Then to add a sinus infection and a stomach virus that has only been treated for a few days before is no fun. If this is a medically necessary surgery I would understand, with it being elective it's another. This is just my honest opinion. This is not being sick before a vacation or etc., its a surgery. Can his surgery not wait another week? I'm not trying to be rude, yes the doctor may proceed, but it will just put a strain on him. Either way, good luck and keep him hydrated.
My husband has a very hectic work schedule and he's had this OK'ed and scheduled with his work for months now to be able to take 2 weeks off for the surgery. It is just going to be very difficult to rearrange things to get it rescheduled. That plus he's already done 3 days of liquid diet and I would hate for those to have been for nothing. It has been very hard on him.
I'm just hoping he's better by Tuesday since he's had the issues for a couple of days already.
Sounds like something you need to call the surgeon about!
