Three days post op
I was sleeved on 21 May. I was dreading the post-op pain - I'm one of those who can't even stand to have blood drawn for tests - so I was pretty worried.
My surgery was totally uneventful. The pain has been moderate at worst - mostly just a little discomfort and having to be careful of supporting my stomach when getting in and out of bed. The worst of it was the incredible dry mouth I experienced for about 24 hours - my tongue felt like a completely dry sponge.
Since I've been home, I've slept a lot, been careful to get up and walk around every two hours at least, and taken several moderate walks outside. I feel better and stronger with each hour that passes.
The liquid diet and sipping hasn't been a problem, really, I just don't think I was awake long enough yesterday to get all my liquids in. I managed about 44 oz plus two popsicles and 1/2 a container of SF jello.
I've been very relieved at how smoothly everything has gone so far.
Congratulations! Having dealt with the comorbidities so long I am used to routine blood testing, I even donate blood regularly. Hopefully I'll have the same smooth experience as you have when I have my surgery this week.
Wow that's good. I had a problem at first but have gotten better. I am glad to see you're doing great!
How wonderful that your recovery has been so smooth and better than you feared it would be! That's awesome :D

Wow that's awesome!! I had my RNY Gastric Bypass on the 21 myself! My recovery was not as smooth as yours as I did feel some pain ... And I think I tolerate pain pretty well! I'm so glad though that your recovery was so smooth! I will say that each day that passes feels better than the last, and walking definitely helps too! I have an indentation in my abdomen where one incision site is at but I've been reading that this happens to many and will go away a few weeks ... I would say any pain I do experience is from that specific indentation ...I'm so excited for this new life, I'm sure you are too :-)
