I think I'm crazy, but when I have a protein shake/bar. .

So I have been slacking a lot on my protein shakes and bars ( I do eat a lot of greek yogurt and meats and stuff for protein) but lately when I drink a shake - like this morning - I got half way through it and my body felt weird. I feel some type of 'tightness' in my body. I only notice it when I have a shake. I got through half of the 20oz and my body just felt weird. Its really hard to explain and I sound crazy but it makes me feel crappy. Anyone else have this issue or know what is wrong?

I would check the carb count. The shake may be messing with your blood sugar if you are waiting to long to eat something.

Not crazy at all..

I also have a weird feeling after drinking a protein shake..

mine is more of a weird back ache almost tingling feeling..

I attribute it to it being a cold drink and drinking too fast

b/c when I drink my protein tea I don't have the issue at all

i thought I was the only one to have that weird feeling glad Im not alone!!

How fast are you drinking? If you're drinking 10oz fairly quickly, you may need to slow down a bit.

Does this happen with multiple kinds of shakes, or just one? Is it possible that you've developed an allergy or sensitivity to an ingredient in one particular kind of shake?

Just drink it regular, I don't think its too fast, and its not too cold. It's almost a weird feeling in my upper body, like hips to head. I feel this way with any protein shake, or sometimes a full bar - which I try not to eat a FULL bar- usually just half. How could drinking something too fast make me feel weird?

Protein bars do that to me. Im thinking it maybe the carb content. My shakes have 0 carbs as mix with coffee. However, although the bars have "net carbs", they still have a lot of carbs per bar. Another thing - are you using chocolate flavored shakes and bars? I would check the caffeine that may be in the chocolate flavored items.

Are you drinking it too fast?  Or is it too cold?

I don't think I am drinking too fast, and it's not about the coldness. Sometimes I have a RTD shake at room temp. Would drinking too fast really cause the weird feeling?

I think that it could?  So it would be worth experimenting with.

Not every day, but I do get this nauseated feeling after drinking a shake, or I feel odd. IDK how to explain it, I just feel crappy for about an hour after.
