Had surgery consult yesterday. I am having a bilateral mastectomy and breast reconstruction with TRAM abdominal muscle flap.  In other words, they are removing my boobs & replacing them with skin from my lower abdomen .. so I am essentially getting  new boobs & a tummy tuck. I'm a little more than half way to goal weight loss, so timing is not optimal, but I'm just glad they are taking this route. Hard for breast cancer to come back when you don't have breasts.

Even though you are only half way, I think the TT aspect will help you overall.  They can make that really tight, so the remaining loss will not cause nearly as much ptosis of the skin as it would have without it being done.  I did not have the TRAM done for my double mastectomy- I was a "simple"- they just simply took everything :)  I know first hand the roller coaster this can put a person on, but as you said... "Hard for breast cancer to cme back when you don't have breasts."  I remind myself of this daily while I go through the reconstruction process.  My thoughts are with you!

Oh- I bought 2 camis for the mastectomy.  They are designed with velcro in the front (to avoid having to put anything over the head to get it on) and spots for drains.  I think they are a large.  If you are interested I would be happy to send them to you.  I lived in them for the first 10 days.

Praying for you to find peace during this process.  I hope you will get the plastic surgery results you want and that it will save you more surgery later.  I wonder if lipo is an option while they are in there.  Take the excess fat from your stomach? I would certainly ask if you haven't.

Thinking of you often and praying for your health.  God bless, Michelle
