OMG!!!!! I gained 1lb!!!!

OMG!!! I gained 1lb in a week and I am currently only 3 months out.  However, I have to admit, that I haven't been very diligent in the last week and a half.  I haven't exercised and I've been eating protein bars and saltine crackers as snacks.  Although, I was devastated when I got off the scale, I learned a very valuable lesson.  You can't let up on your weight loss regime, not even for a minute.  Even at three months out, you are still  susceptible to negative results when you don't follow the prescribe plan.  So, I'm done with my pity party and its back to the protein shakes and the treadmill!!!!  #gettingbackinthegame

I've been noticing that if I eat unhealthy carbs, my weight will go up, even if its not that many calories.  I wonder if others are noticing this effect.  Memorial day, we went to a BBQ and I was really good except I ate a few bites of dessert.  The next day I was up 3 pounds, and I just got it down again today.  It wasn't a lot of calories, but it was carbs.  I am one pound to my goal weight so this was more than frustrating.

Stalls happen even when we stick closely to the diet.  Keep the faith.  It works.

In my experience, carbs (especially refined carbs) = water weight gain.  Refined carbs create inflammation in the body, and inflamed tissue swells.  Once I start eating "clean" again, the inflammation subsides, water is released, and weight goes down.

interesting observation. I will have to make note of that. I do my level best to stay away from the refined and white carbs. Next time I indulge I will take note. I do know they make me feel off now if I eat a large portion of them.

Good for you for lifting your head and moving forward!  It sucks to see the scale fluctuate, but most often it really doesn't have anything to do with anything.  My weight goes up and down 2-3 pounds on a routine basis.  I just get off the scale and move on with my day doing exactly what I have been doing.  I know if I just keep going in this manner, in a few days the scale will move down again.  I am so used to it that one pound doesn't even get a raised eyebrow out of me.  2 pounds, yep.  But still, head up and move on.

Congrats for your great attitude!

It is a pound- likely water weight due to the added salt and processed protein bars.  I would also gain or at least stand still right before my periods.  Don't freak out.  Just keep working your plan :)

I am not at all concerned to read that you are up a pound as that is normal.  We go up and down in weight loss and this is even more pronounced the further out we get.  On the other hand, I am really concerned about you choosing to go off program this early out and really happy to hear that you share this concern and are right back on track.  Great job in catching this early and making the necessary changes.  Please know, the next time, you might not be lucky enough to see immediate weight gain.  That can lead to new, unhealthy behaviors and unchecked poor eating habits that will be much harder to change after they have taken root and developed for months.  The one pound 'wake-up call' is a real blessing.  Hugs and good luck, to you and to all of us.

I know, I went to a restaurant and ordered my favorite salad.  I made several meals out of it, but the result was that in 2 days of eating it I gained 3lbs.  So I guess I'm not ready for that many veggies yet.  Now I know better - if I want salad it's going to be a 1-time thing, NO leftovers.

Exchange the protein bars and saltines for something like turkey pepperoni and cheese sticks, and I bet you start losing again.

I'm not an expert, but I would imagine that you're doing the right thing - you can't fool your body's chemistry, but it's what you do most of the time that counts.
