Protein Makes me nauseous
I am approximately 9 weeks post op and down 40 pounds. The first few weeks weren't too bad. Liquids and then pureed. Now eating regular food, though very modified and limited. I have a goal of 80 grams of protein a day, so I typically need to include at least one protein shake a day to ensure I reach the goal. I started out with Unjury and I am back with Unjury. All of them, including Unjury turn my stomach. I have tried GNC, Herbalife, another I can't remember. Any suggestions? I really want to succeed. My goal is to lose another 80 pounds.

I had a hard time drinking protein shakes shortly after surgery myself.
I started taking a multi strand probiotic and things got much better. Premier Protein RTD shakes are what I suggest.

Have you tried mixing the protein powder with yogurt, or jello, pudding, etc? That's the only way I could get it down. I also found chicken broth easier to take than the sweet drinks which really turned my stomach. Good luck.

Hi mgk48. I am pre-op but I have been investigating protein shakes for the last couple of weeks. I tried one called Harmonized Progressive Vanilla flavour. I blended it with ice and 250 ml of unsweetened almond milk for a long time and it thickend/foamed up and it tasted like vanilla ice cream. Note that I put ice in the blender while it was mixing, and then I poured it over ice. It was delicious so I bought a container of it and am going to have one from time to time to gear myself up for when I will need it daily. I also have a chocolate sample pack that I am going to try tonight with regular milk (2%). I hope this helps you. xx
Keep trying, your taste buds change after surgery, so try a few different ones.
But don't stress about it, or assume it means you won't succeed. It is completely possible to get to goal without protein shakes. I lost 195lbs without a single protein shake. They all make me violently sick within seconds of drinking them, so they haven't been part of my journey at all.
I was told by people here that I was screwed without them.
Ummm....nope! :)
