I had a scheduled outpatient gallbladder removal pre-WLS (non-emergent but necessary to get it out). I was 5 weeks post-partum. I had surgery on a Friday, was home and doing overnight baby feeding and diaper changing that night (nursing momma needed to pump and dump the narcotics tainted milk to maintain supply). I had my mom stay with us for the weekend to help and by Monday morning I was 1 on 1 with baby while my husband was at work. If I was not on maternity leave, I'm guessing that I would have been fine at my desk job too.
IMO the worst part after gallbladder surgery is the shoulder pain from the air they pump into the belly putting pressure on that nerve. Once the shoulder pain is gone, the rest is really like the external recovery from VSG...some belly tenderness and waiting for the holes to heal. I took the narcotic pain meds for 4 days and then was on Tylenol/Advil for the next few days.
People who have emergent or open gallbladder surgeries due to infection and rupture probably have it a lot worse. Getting it taken care of before you get to the emergency state is a great plan.
ETA: young female coworker had hers out last Friday and was back at work on Monday. we work in an office, so nothing strenuous to do here.

I had emergency gallbladder removal surgery in April. I was home for about a week and a half. It was just like VSG recovery. I had ZERO appetite though and had to force myself to eat or drink protein shakes. I was tired and just laid around a lot. Plus side was I lost 10lbs in the week and half following surgery!
I had mine out in May on a Tuesday and was back at work that Monday. I'm still pre-op (they found gallstones and wanted to take the gallbladder out before doing my sleeve). Honestly, it wasn't that bad. My abdomen hurt a bit when I would get up from the couch or bed. Like another poster said, the worst pain for me was the right shoulder pain. I've always had neck problems, so the gas they pumped me with aggravated that as well. I have a pretty strong tolerance to pain meds, so my doctor told me to up the frequency of my doses, and it was a lot more manageable. I honestly thought it would be a lot worse. If you're been through the sleeve procedure, I bet this one will be a piece of cake. Best of luck to you!
