Unsupportive in-laws
My husband's family is, to put it bluntly, filled with the most self-centered and self-absorbed people I have ever met. Not one of them has picked up a phone to call and see how I'm doing during this time. In fact, other than a few Facebook "likes" and some polite questions when HE called THEM, it's as if it never happened.
Honestly, I wouldn't care except they expect me to be SO interested in them, their goings-on, and their stupid family concerns. Any suggestions as to how to handle this? I know I describe it in juvenile terms, but it IS 4 am. :)
Absolutely!

The great thing is that you don't need their support. You don't need anyone's. You are awesome and you will be successful.
Some people just don't know how to deal with medical stuff. Or what response is correct.
Just be successful :) I'm sure they'll then try to find a way to claim your success as their own ;)

I think some people don't know what to say for fear of offending. If they say too much about the weight loss they risk inferring how fat we were. If they don't say anything then it's as if they don't care. Of course I have no idea what they r thinking but could they b afraid offending u and with their silence they have done exactly that. Maybe they really are buttheads though???? I hope they speak up more when they see how you are healthy and happy!
