Bowl movements
For a while post-op you aren't creating waste to HAVE to go. So if you're not feeling like you NEED to, it's probably because your body isn't trying to rid itself of anything regularly, yet. It will happen more and more regularly with the more foods you incorporate. I also know a lot of people take miralax to help them for when they need to go, but can't.
Maybe never, but that's not a certainty. If I do nothing, it's a 3-4 equation for me even this far out.
As you see above, Miralax is the best choice. There are lots of options people recommend, trust me, I've tried them all and Miralax will get you the most consistent result that you are likely looking for.
Some food choices can alter the process but often run into issues with the calories (i.e. nuts) or the quantity required (i.e. veggies).

I go about every 2 days. I refuse to rely on a laxative to have BM's, so what I do is this: I take a magnesium supplement every night, and I drink at least a gallon of fluid (water, unsweet tea--those are the only two things I drink) every day. I drink more on days I work out. I also eat veggies and beans regularly.

I've been regular since somewhere in the 4-6 week period. And I was never regular pre-op. So this is amazing. I poop every morning when I wake up. On the rare days I don't, I put a dose of miralax in my shake that day. I love this predictability :)

I use miralax daily - I take a half dose every evening, and I am regular with it. Without it, I get super constipated. I was hoping that as I got farther out and able to eat more veggies that I could give up the miralax, but it hasn't happened yet. I'm 14 months post-op.

I'm like clockwork. A BM every morning. I take a half of serving of Miralax three times a week to keep things consistent and make sure to drink plenty of fluids.
