I know rapid weight loss can cause a delay in starting your period, but did anyone else have this problem? I was supposed to start over a week ago and no I'm not pregnant! I was just wondering how long this might last? And could this be a reason I'm having stall?

Thanks

I did not have any of the problems with my cycle that people usually associate with rapid weight loss.  If anything, my cycle has become so freakishly regular, it's scary!  Every 28 days, like clockwork.

Right now I'm 3 days late and also weight is up a couple of pounds (and nothing in my diet or exercise would account for that at all) so I'm in the same boat as you.  Last month I was 4 days late.  And when I do finally start it hangs on for about a week.  Luckily, the weight falls off very quickly for another week.  So I'll stay the same leading up to my cycle and then drop rapidly for a couple of weeks.

I had some trouble prior to the surgery with heavy and irregular flow- and that got worse.  I ended up getting an ablation done. Now, nothing.  The oncologist checked to make sure from a hormonal standpoint I was not considered to be in menopause- and that all checked out.  Goodness it is wonderful to not have the monthly friend anymore!

The stress of surgery and weight loss can delay ovulation which in turn delays the arrival of your period.  Mine have been a little wonky since surgery.  Hormones are all out of wack!

I'd take a pregnancy test weekly until your period shows up.  If you get to 60+ days, you can ask your doc for something to kick-start your cycle.

I went the other direction. I was so irregular before surgery b/c I had PCOS. Losing the weight, even in the first month, pushed me to regular. I have never been regular before in my life. I get it every 30 days. However, my ovulation cycle does tend to go batty. I feel like i got it earlier this month than usual.

thank-you Mirena IUD.  LOL!  because of the IUD i normally just have some light spotting a few times a year (when on the pill or anything else I have a full week of a heavy period, ugh), though I think since surgery it has happened a bit more frequently.  I think once my weight loss and hormones have normalized that will go back to normal though.  I would imagine that the same would happen for you.  It seems like just about anything stressing on the body can screw up your period!
