Pre-op visit questions?
Hey y'all! Tuesday is my pre-op visit. I was just wondering what should I expect at this visit? Is this going to be another quick in, see the surgeon for 2 minutes while he does a quick examination, then your out 5 minutes after it all started like my consult was or is it longer? Also how long after your pre-op did you have surgery? I don't get a date until my pre-op appointment. When I talked to my surgeon's office to schedule my pre-op, she asked if I wanted a certain date or 1st available. I am a teacher and want my surgery done ASAP before school starts again. So she told me to go ahead and start my pre-op diet. My diet is suppose to be a 2 week diet (at least that's what I learned at my education class) and 2 weeks will be Thursday. So do you think I could have surgery this week??
This is the post I made in my journal after my first appointment with my surgeon -- http://myvsg.livejournal.com/1165.html
I'd imagine it all depends on your surgeon as to exactly how the appointment will go. I know that, for some people, meeting the surgeon is something that doesn't happen until they've completed a lot of steps in the process. For me, it was one of the first things I did!

Ooh, I'm sorry. I misinterpreted what you wrote!
Here's the post I made about my pre-op appointment. I already had my surgery date when I did the pre-op and was well into my pre-op liquid diet!

I'm scheduled for surgery on August 14, but had my pre-op visit this past Tuesday. I think most people have them much closer to surgery, but this just worked better for my schedule. During the appointment, I
- Took a 10-15 question T/F quiz, which you'll totally nail
- Signed some release forms
- Received my prescriptions for post-surgery
- Received my day-of-surgery instructions/confirmation
My surgeon's office is in the hospital, so I also went down and did the pre-registration for surgery. It sounds like your finish line is in sight. Good luck!!
Sure thing! My appointment was at 10, and I think I left the hospital around 11:30-ish, so under two hours. Some of that was wait time for the pre-op/registration bit in the actual hospital.
Hi Laura. My 6 month appt. Is Wednesday., then they will submit to insurance. I have had my 2 nutrition classes, EKG, ECO, psych eval. I am on a cpap so I don't need a sleep study. I still need labs. I am hoping that I get a date on Wednesday because I too work at a school. I work year-round but want to be back to work on the first day of school.
