Your FULL Signal

So what is your full signal.

For me, I know that I get this heavy feeling in my tummy and sometime I will have like either a burp/hiccup come. When I do get that burp/hiccup it is like the result from a delayed reaction from eating. Then I feel miserably full. I am trying to learn how to stop BEFORE the burp/hiccup.

By the way.... I am clear to eat FISH again!!!! Woot!!!

I have the same problem where my reaction (also either a burp or hiccup) tends to come a bit too late.  I think my problem is that I've stopped eating as slowly as I should.  If you're eating too fast then you might not have time for that reaction to happen before you've taken the next bite.  Fortunately, I'm far enough out that I also just get to a point where I feel comfortably full like I don't need anymore.  It's up to me to not take that extra bite and feel stuffed.

I actually don't know. I just eat what I measure and trust that will nourish me. When I can't measure, I err on the side of eating too little. I know if I eat to the point where I feel full during a meal, it means I've already eaten too much.

Nice question. I'm 2 weeks out from VSG and this topic was on my mind today. Am I correct in assuming there are (at least) 2 methods... those who eat and rely on the full signal and those who measure and eat what is portioned out? I currently eat too fast to catch my full signal, before I am miserably full. My signal is a sigh. Since I speed past that sigh, I've been leaning towards getting a food scale and just measuring the amount suggested by my NUT. After surgery, should I take this time to listen to my body and use the full signal method?

At two weeks out, you don't have a full signal yet.  Your stomach is still recovering from the severed nerves, so don't rely on that to tell you when you're full.  It took me about 5-6 weeks post surgery for my sleeve to gauge that I was actually full.

You are better off measuring your food at this point.  In fact, you need to instead of thinking that your new sleeve will rescue you.  You're "miserably full" so the signal isn't working yet.  Follow the advice of your nut and buy a scale.

I'm sorry. I'm 2 weeks pre-op. (I just read how I wrote that). But that aside, you bring up a good point. I have a brand new stomach and it won't be reliable for a while. A food scale purchase would be smart.
