goal weight
My doctor felt I could lose 65lbs. in a year with the surgery so that is what I set my goal weight at. I think I would be happy if I could get to 150 which is heavier than my official goal, but I'm going to figure it out as I go along.
My goal weight is my high end of normal BMI + 25 pounds = 185 or my high end Met Life weight +15 = 185. I am big-boned, have been obese my entire life (creating extra bone mass that can't be lost), and muscular, and after speaking with my surgeon, and the nurses who are actually WLS patients too - I came up with 185 as my ultimate goal. With the regain they say is common, I want to live the rest of my life under 200 pounds.
My surgeon's goal was 60% EWL = 240 for me. I am almost there at 5m post op.
My nurse is a tall, large structured lady who had WLS as well - she said I will likely never have a normal BMI, but losing 85-90%EWL is possible - for me my 185 is about 89%EWL.
I want to be a size 12 or so. I am an 18 now and I think this goal is reasonable.
