How did you decide your goal weight?

I want to be reasonable with myself. I am not sure if I can get as low as I want, but I do remember being a certain weight and feeling good about myself. If I can get lower than this it will be a bonus. Good luck.

I looked at BMI chart and considered healthy body fat range (and got tested for that).  I also considered what other healthy women my age and height weigh.  My goal is 130 but I'm happy and healthy anywhere from 130-135.

Ditto for me..I also went to this site someone recommended where you could see pictures of real people at a certain weight/height to judge how that looks.  You enter search criteria and it comes up with people who have downloaded their pictures and entered their info.  It sounded creepy to me at first but it was clean lol.

I don't know if I found the exact site you used, but I did find one. Thanks for pointing me in that direction. Ummm.... I think my goal weight might drop 5 pounds.

I used the information in these calculators -- http://www.halls.md/ideal-weight/body.htm -- and picked the number I liked best out of all the available options.  I have no idea if it's a plausible goal, but the idea that it might be implausible doesn't bother me at all.  I'm 5'4", 37 years old, and picked 120 as my goal weight.  I also have a body fat goal of 20%.  I feel so far away from these goals right now, that they don't really feel relevant at all, if that makes sense?  I have no idea what my body will be like at 180, much less 150 or 120.  I'll reevaluate as I need to once I get closer and see what my body is up to.

I also have interim goals:

(3/20/14) 291 - Extremely Obese BMI
(4/29/14) 269 - Fifty Lost/25% EWL
(5/17/2014) 260 - Driver's License Weight
233 - Obese BMI
219 - One Hundred Lost/50% EWL
199 - "Onederland"
180 - Age 18
174 - Overweight BMI/Surgeon's Goal
169 - One Hundred Fifty Lost/75% EWL
159.5 - Half the person I used to be
145 - Normal BMI
120 - 100% EWL

My doctor gave me a goal of 150, but honestly I would rather be around 140 (I'm 5'2") - I think that may still be slighty overweight but I don't care as long as I'm healthy. Honestly, when I lost weight with my lap band, I weighed 180 at my lowest and was really happy there. I was a size 10/12. I'm big chested, so that really added to my weight.

I think I will re-evaluate when I get down there and see how I feel.

My surgeon has this ridiculously fancy scale that will calculate your fat-free mass (basically the weight of your bones, organs, basic water weight and skin) as one of its features. He then added on a body fat of 20% to that number and suggested that as my goal weight. I found that number a bit higher than my pie-in-the-sky goal, but when he showed me that my “ideal” weight on the BMI chart was about 10 pounds lighter than my fat-free mass, I relented. After all, I’m not having him take off a kidney or an arm while I’m in surgery :)

I also have used this fancy scale. Kind of neat but not realistic. I would need to 0 fat/minus some to hit my goal bmi. Crazy outdated chart. Burn the damn thing !
