my surgeon required 55 lb ,12% of my extra weight ,normally he requires 10%

but I was over his maximum bmi, took me 8 months but I was required to do a 6 month supervised diet and a load of test anyway

I also lost 25 lb before I even seen him

My surgeon requires me to lose 10 pounds before surgery.

I was required to lose 50 pounds before surgery.  But my BMI was over 60 and my stomach fat was really solid.  The surgeon required the weight loss to generate some space inside so they could do the surgery laparoscopicly.  I lost the 50 pounds in 3 months.

best of luck,

Carol

My surgeon required 5%, I weighed 326 at first official weigh in, so about 17 pounds "required". Thing is, I knew I reached a point where even losing 2-3 pounds (no****er weight) was problematic... my metabolism was going haywire. I spent 3 months working incredibly, incredibly hard at losing 26 pounds. Looking back though it really helped to set me up for a very succusful weight loss phase post surgery. My eating habits improved dramatically, although tremendous improvement also occurred post surgery... started exercising, paying attention to nutrition, dealing with adjusting to shakes, adjusting to tracking in MFP, research, etc.  All effort well spent!
