Hey y'all I'm 2 days post-op and was just wondering what you were doing the first few days following surgery. I know we aren't supposed to compare ourselves, but I just wanted to see if I was sleeping too little/much. Walking too little/much.

For the first 4 days or so, I slept and sipped room temperature tea and took little walks around the house and yard. I would walk if I was awake and would sit and rest different places around the house and yard. Then I would go back to the recliner and sleep longer.  Best wishes!

I drank water, napped, drank water, napped, walked, drank water, napped, etc... I took about 5 naps a day the first week, walked about 2x as much as I did the pre-op week, and drank non-stop to get to 100 oz by day 3.

Hello, I thought I'd ask you a question. My weight right now is 470, Dr wants me on a 4 week liquid diet pre op. Did you have to do this at your weight? Thanks Jeff

I sipped, but not as much as I probably should have the first few days. Didn't nap during the day but sat on the couch and relaxed between short laps from front door to back door. Went to bed early. Losing weight is not your job right now. Being kind to your healing body and staying hydrated are the best medicine! Congratulations and welcome to the loser's bench! It gets so much easier.

I drank water, binge watched greys anatomy on netflix, and walked my dog around the block a few times a day.

I just finished day 4... I take a longish walk each morning and then spend the rest of the day in bed or mostly in the recliner. Today I took an extra walk around walmart while I waited on pain meds. The walks during the day are usually to the kitchen for more liquids or the bathroom to get rid of them or to shower. I haven't really napped, just played on the net or watched tv. It's over 100 outside after 9am so it's hard to get more walks in. I've been doing pretty good with my liquids, just try to change it up since I have to do them for 2 weeks.

Though I wanted to, I didn't nap much after surgery because I needed the time to get my liquids in. I would take a walk or two a day around down and would get up frequently to walk around the apartment. I live in the DC area so I tried going downtown and doing things - big mistake. Wore me out and I wasn't able to concentrate on sipping, so I'd get dehydrated. Whatever activity you choose to do, make sure you keep sipping!

I'm pretty sure you can't walk or sleep too much.  Walk as much as you can and sleep as much as you need to.  Listen to your body on these things :)
