I am on day 7 of my 14 day Pre-Op Diet (800-1000 calories a day, "real" food, not just liquid).  In the first 3 days, I lost 6.5 pounds  . Stepped on the scales this morning (been 3 more days) and am the same as i was 3 days ago! I do know i can't expect to lose 2 pounds each day for 2 weeks, but don't want to stay the same only eating this amount of food!  Not giving up or anything, just needed to rant a little... Thanks!

On a very low calorie diet, your body is using up its glycogen stores. This is the real reason for the pre-op diet: to use the glycogen stored in the liver, which will shrink the liver and make it easier to handle during your surgery. Glycogen is bound up with a large amount of water. The water (which you're surely peeing out at record rate) accounts for the extreme weight loss that people see at the beginning of the pre-op diet (or any other low carb, low calorie diet).

In other words, what you're experiencing is quite typical!
