Board certified question

What is it I should look for an board certification? In general surgery? Or is there an actual board certification for bariatric surgery?

When I was picking surgeons, I looked for as many letters behind their name as possible. I understand this doesn't automatically make someone a great surgeon, but I thought it does mean they care enough to do as much as they can to earn those letters. Here's what I found:

FACS - Fellow of American College of Surgeons

FASMBS - Fellow of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.

Those were the two big ones for me. Plus, I looked for a bariatric Center of Excellence.
