I gained 6 pounds over night! (Pre op)
I will most likely be getting my sleeve in October or November however I wanted to lose weight to be as healthy as I can be on the operating table. So far I have lost 25 pounds but now its back down to 19 because I seem to have gained 6 pounds overnight!! I ate a fast food burger yesterday but I fit in my calories for the day so what the hell!??!!?!? I know everyone here know a lot about weight loss so what do you think this is making me feel so unmotivated!!
Welcome to day to day fluctuations! They're a pain in the butt, eh? Chances are the fast food was high in sodium which caused you to retain water which caused the scale to go up 6 pounds.

Hi TanyaR,
I find that my weight can fluctuate greatly from one day to the next. When I eat carbs, I will gain a lot of weight quickly - like overnight. I think it is water weight because I lose it in a few days, but it always bums me out. similarly, when I drink alcohol my weight jumps up.
I obsessed with the number on the scale when I was in weight loss. I'd get upset when I'd plateau, but ultimately, I got to goal, and all that obsessing did me no good! If you can, try to ignore the number on the scale. Ultimately, does it really matter if you get to goal in 9 months, or one year or 18 months? As long as you are sticking to your plan, you will lose the weight eventually. So try and relax and enjoy the ride! The weight loss surgery really works, and you'll get to goal, too.

I just read this article about it yesterday. What the Number on the Scale Really Means: A Primer on Weight Fluctuations. I gained 4 pounds overnight last week and it was driving me crazy that I couldn't understand WHY.
