Water 3 days out from VSG
Had surgery 8/4/14. Pain is better only during transitional movements like sitting down my biggest issue Is drinking water. I am scared I will drink too much and get sick. I am trying sipping but that is driving me crazy. I can take a bigger sip without discomfort. I will occasionally hear a gurgling in my stomach. Any advice or am I hurting something by taking a bigger sip?

My doctor said to sip sip sip...you don't want to over stress your tummy the first few weeks by drinking big amounts of water at a time...at the beginning i was to drink 2 ounces of water every 15 mins...i'm a month out and i can drink a lil more without feeling any discomfort in my tummy...doctor said i need a minimum of 64oz of liquids..so that means i drink water ALLLLL day...i drink water...propel water..zero vitamin water..or zero powerade..to change it up a bit...i was allowed to drink diet peach snapple...
Just take it easy..be patient..its will take some time to get use to it...trust me! :)
Good luck :)
I was able to take pretty normal swallows of liquid a few days out from surgery with no issue. I wouldn't guzzle or anything, but as long as you don't feel discomfort and are waiting a little bit between swallows you should be ok with liquid. The gurgling sounds pretty normal to me, and just happens sometimes.
