Today I Cried

I walked today and found myself very thirsty and wanted so badly to turn up my water bottle and gulp big, satisfying gulps of water like I did 7 weeks ago when I was  pre-op but I knew I couldn't so I sat down and sipped, and cried. SO thirsty!!

This too will pass.  Deep breath and move forward.

Before you know it you'll be able to drink pretty much normally again. This will just be a distant memory

I remember feeling like that too, it gets frustrating. Like Keith said, drinking will get a lot easier.

It will get easier. I missed that at first, but now I chug water like a champ. I think I got in at least 130 ounces yesterday.

Y'all don't know how much I appreciate your comments. The encouragement is just what I needed today. I felt so blue and I thank you. I love this forum!

I know a lot of people say not to use a straw to avoid getting too much air but honestly I started using a straw a couple weeks ago and not only have I not had any issue with it but I can take bigger, more satisfying drinks of water.

I feel the same way. I'm constantly thirsty but I'm always drinking. I'm weak, dizzy and exhausted and the doc said it is because I'm dehydrated.  But I'm trying! And I'm just so thirsty all the time. It will get better I'm told.

I totally understand. I've cried with frustration a few times, mostly having to do with not being able to have beer at my favorite beer garden. :) As others said, this too shall pass, but know that we understand.

Did they tell you that you will one day be able to have a beer? Or did they tell you that crying about it will pass as you come to fully realize that you can't? I have not had the surgery yet, and I am willing to abstain from alcohol for as long as the doctor tells me to as I won't want to damage my pouch or stoma. But I'm hoping that I can arrive at a point in time where I can have 1 beer once in a while someday without blowing up my revised digestive tract and ruining everything. I know people that have had RNY that drink beer, but they have gained all of their weight back and have eaten through the procedure.
