Am I Doing Okay?

I had my surgery on the 6th so, I'm 11 days post op. I've lost 10lbs so far. Is that the norm or am I behind. When I went for my post op appointment the PA seemed disappointed...

I think 10 pounds in 11 days is fantastic!  I was a heavy weight and super-compliant, and my best month, I lost 20 pounds.  I had a few months at 15 pounds per month, but more common was 8 or 10 pounds per month, and down to a few pounds per month at the end.

I think us WLS people tend to set unreasonable expectations for ourselves and then feel bad when we are really doing very well.   As someone told me early out,  This is a marathon, not a sprint.  Does it really matter if we get to goal in 6 months, or 9 months or 1 year or 18 months?  As long as we stick to the plan, we'll get there.

best wishes,

Carol

Everything Carol said.

Also, don't compare yourself to someone else.  You are a completely different human being than everyone else and your body is going to respond differently than everyone else's.

That said, you are doing just fine!

You're doing great!  Everyone has their own "norm" depending on a number of different factors.  Just stick to your plan and you'll be A-OK.

Thanks, I though it was pretty awesome, but I've been a little down since the appointment. I was happy with the number I saw on the scale. With my history of not being able to lose I was very pleased.

It doesn't really matter what anyone else's norm is, you'll have your own norm.  Stick to the plan, you'll reach your goals!
