Just want some opinions

I used my highest weight for all my calculations.  My program uses my surgery weight, so their numbers are lower, but there is no way I'm not taking credit for the 50 pounds I lost pre-surgery!  hehehe.  I lost 50 pounds in my first three months post-surgery and that was closer to 20% than 40 to 60%   I was a heavy weight and lost weight fairly fast, so I'm thinking that 40 to 60% in 3 months is a pretty high expectation.

best wishes,

Carol

Thank you for the reply Cappy.  I thought those numbers were pretty high myself.  And, I am totally with you on including the pre-surgery weight loss.  It never made sense to me not too.  I don't know about you but I probably never would have lost the weight surgery pre-surgery if I hadn't had the motivation of qualifying for the surgery.  So, I didnt lose NEAR as much as you (50lbs is pretty freaking awesome) but I still lost 16lbs and I use that number cause it shows where my weight loss journey started, which is what I care about, not where my surgery journey started.

I have never heard of the 40-60% expected weight loss before, but I guess it sounds reasonable. I am 2.5 months out and right at 48% lost. I too am super happy with where I'm at. I wouldn't change a thing.

From the starting point, I was told that by the end of the first year, I should expect to lose 60% of my total estimated weight loss. My goal was to lose 100 pounds, doctors goal was 85 pounds. I'm 7 months and have have lost (since surgery weight 246) 90% of my EWL from doctor's goal and 77% of my goal of 100 pounds. At my 3 month visit i was probably at 30% of my goal and 35% of my doctors. All this being said, I am a very slow loser as well. The past two months I only posted a 5 pound weight loss for months 5 & 6.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for the reply.  I think I am entering into one of those slow weight loss periods as well.  Frustrating but expected.  Your numbers are very impressive though.  Keep up the good work

I don't remember how much EWL I had at three months. I never did the math. I have lost 10-12 pounds per month with a goal of losing 100 pounds. So I guess I had lost about 30% at three months out.

10-12 is a pretty great goal but what is impressive is that you kept to your plan.  Very impressive.  I mean, looking at thing objectively, if a person loses 10% per month, thats only 10 months and they are at EWL.  I guess my 40+% isnt to bad then with that frame of mind.  Thank you for the response.

I calculated from the surgery date.  Anything extra that i did before was 'gravy"

RNY Surgery: 12/31/2013;

Current weight (2/27/2015) 139lbs, ~14% body fat

Three pounds below Goal!!! Yay !
