HOT night sweats after VSG

I had my sleeve on 8/25 and doing great!  Only one weird new development. Every night I wake up hot as fire and soaking wet - even the sheets are soaked. It even woke my husband up last night. No symptoms at all during awake hours. Anyone else have this experience?  Also, I am 8 years post-menopausal so it's not a typical hot flash.

I'm 9 weeks out and this just started for me last Sunday night.  Soaked right through the sheets.  Up until that point I've set the AC at 74 every night and slept comfortably with a down comforter.  Now it's at 69 and I'm still sweating a bit.  I chalk it up to hormones.  I imagine it's the same situation for you, especially since you're at a point where your body is still recovering from the surgery and your hormones are going crazy.  It should end!  Congrats on your new sleeve!

Thanks for your response. After I made my post, I dawned on me that rapid burning fat cells release hormones so you are probably right, hormone dumping/madness. Burn baby burn. We keep our AC on 72 and a ceiling fan and a floor fan!  We should probably sleep in the fridge LOL. Good luck with your recovery!

my hubby and i both had a phase of this.  though my surgeon denies it, i really think its related to the vsg. it will go away.  after a few months you may go through a "cold" phase when you have shed some serious weight.   that passes too.  lots of people report this.   diane

I had this problem. And still do almost 6 months out. But my body has always had issues with temperature regulation if I'm in any way less than optimal. So I guess it's just amplified now. Sigh.

Menopause started three years ago for me. After surgery I was freezing any time I wasn't moving around. Had to buy a electric blanket to keep in the living room. After a few months hot flashes became worse and my flushing was worse as well. I have been hypothyroid for over 20 years so I had a blood draw and I was way.over corrected resulting in hyper thyroid symptoms. Insomnia, irregular heart rate etc... doc has me down to .88mcg. I was at 2.0 mcg prior to surgery.they say it shouldn't make any difference but doc said there is less of me to dilute the med in so.....
