l'm 10 weeks post op tomorrow and for the past few days if I let myself get really hungry I get really horrible stomach pains, like my stomach is going to explode. I knew it wasn't something I ate because I hadn't eaten. It slowly goes away if I eat something. I never had such pain pre surgery no matter how hungry I got. Could this be indigestion?

Are you taking a PPI such as nexium or prilosec?

My Dr gave me a prescription for only the first 6 weeks but I purchased an over the counter one 'just in case'. I don't take it every day, though, because I don't always have pain, just when I get really hungry. Should I take every day?

It might help.  The hunger could be from acid.

Have you asked your surgeon?

When I go too long without food in my stomach I get an incredible amount of acid build up and it makes my stomach hurt.  I would guess that you are experiencing the same thing.   I would suggest taking your PPI every day and of course talk to your doctor about this the next time you go in for a check.

I'm still pre-op but I have to agree with the above, your body still produces stomach acids even if you don't have food in there so I'd listen to their advice take the PPI daily and discuss it with your doctor when you meet. Good-luck :-)
