First meat?

I'm 11 weeks post op tomorrow and I have an appointment with my Dr at which I'm hoping to be released to eat meat. I'm curious about what meat you all ate first, what meat seemed to not go down well, how it should be cooked, etc.

Everyone's tolerance of meat seems to vary.  Personally, chicken goes down the hardest.  Shrimp/fish is the easiest with steak somewhere in between.   You can get ground meat for the beginning or just cut into small bites and chew thoroughly.  I did a lot of ground beef and fish in the beginning.

My first non-pureed meat was turkey sausage. Went down great, no problems.

Salmon.  Most fish goes down easy at the start.

I've really only had issues with chicken and fish if it's too dry.  Otherwise, all meat has been great.  Cow, lamb, pig, chicken, fish.. you name it, I've tried it with no troubles.  Make sure to cook things so they're still moist - dry meat is DEATH.  Well, not death, but really uncomfortable.  Sauces also help :)

Deli meat was easiest at first, especially ham. It is always moist, and if you get it sliced really thin, it helps. After that, beef tenderloin was great.

Chicken seems to be the most difficult for many people. Pork was hard on me, but part of that is my fear of not cooking it enough, and ending up too dry. Ground beef was actually harder than steak, especially if you get it very lean.

I had sausage from my favorite diner, then I had fish sticks, salmon, popcorn chicken. No issues with any of them except if it was too dry, then it was harder to get down, but ok overall.
