Does everyone experience the hair falling out after the sleeve?

I have read so many posts regarding peoples hair falling out 3-6 months after surgery.  Is this true for all people?

I'm 4 months out and haven't noticed anymore than usual. But I also have very thick hair and always shed. I also heard it depends on your protein and vitamin intake, and mine has sucked lately.

I haven't noticed any. But I shaved my head for St Baldricks 6 weeks post-op so who knows if I would have noticed!

Thanks!  I'm really glad I did.  I raised $1500 which was totally unexpected!  :D  My hair is a bit longer now, of course, and I can't imagine ever going back to the shoulder length hair I used to have.  Heh.

I'm six months post-op and have super thin fine hair I was terrified of losing any hair. I started taking biotin a few months before surgery. I'm happy to say I haven't noticed any hair loss (knock on wood) and my hairdresser said my hair looks better than it ever has. Drinking your water getting enough protein and taking your vitamins should help mitigate hair loss but everyone is different.

Started losing my hair at month 4 and it is just now getting to slightly more than pre surgery loss now (10 months).  I have super thick hair and lost about half of it.  It was huge hanks of hair I was freaking out for a little bit in the middle there.  Before surgery I used to struggle to twist a hair tie on a ponytail more than two times and now I can twist it four times.  I am lucky that I started with so much and I have an amazing stylist (cut and color can make a HUGE difference).  Biotin and all other supplements will not prevent you from losing any hair.  It will help with the health of new growth.  I keep my protein and water intake pretty high but still lost hair by the handfuls.  Doesn't appear there is any solution.  Either it happens or it doesn't and you just have to get through it.  Sucks!
