How long did you lose?
Curious. How long did you lose weight? I realize for some of you starting maintenance, and those whom have been surfing along in maintenance your answer is different, but there are the few (seldom will they speak up) who stopped losing weight before they got to their goal. Although you may have been close. My reasons for asking are shaped by my own perspective. I'm 9.5 months out and I have so far lost 150lbs. I know that I could stand to lose another 30 to get to my "ideal weight" but my normal bmi hits at 182. I was wondering for any who had an opinion how long their "honeymoon" period lasted. I realize even further (some of you are nazi's) that it of course depends on how well you stuck to your plan (something that resembles atkins) but how long until you said f**k it I'm starting maintenance?

everyone is so different the question really can't be answered , you will lose as long as you stay on plan , it will slow down as you lose but the honeymoon phase for vsg just means when you lose fastest , it does not end after a certain amount of time
I lost for about 8 to 8 1/2 months before I've leveled out - about 20-25 lbs over the top of an "ideal" weight range. I loosened up on my eating and that is why. If I were as strict as I was for those first 8 months, I'm sure I'd STILL be losing. Sure, my restriction was slightly better at that time... but the "honeymoon phase" for me means it's a time when your restriction, motivation, and lack of hunger are at their all time high. I still have those things... but to a lesser degree.

I stayed on my plan and lost for 15 months. Then my body stopped losing. I called maintenance at that point as I trusted my body knew what it could maintain. I have been in maintenance for 1 year. During the summer I dropped 5 pounds and have been holding at that weight. I didn't set a goal until after my 1 year check up, but it was kind of loose. I thought 140 sounded reasonable. I am down about 10 pounds below on most days.
