3 weeks, no weight loss?

I am 6 weeks post op - and am finally starting to feel like myself again.  I lost a lot in the first 3 weeks after surgery:  21 pounds lost at my one month appt.!  I am happy with that BUT, for the past 3 weeks - I have not lost a single pound!

Yes, I am drinking 64 OZ. of liquid (not counting any liquid other than the water I drink - of course, I have soup sometimes, ice pops, milk in my shakes - I don't count that)

Yes, I am getting about 65-70 grams of protein daily.

I am also getting in 10,000 or more steps every day on my FitBit and trying to walk a bit extra a few days a week.  (have gone to the gym a couple times too)

I'm taking all the meds and vitamins.

Just not losing weight.

Normal?  Not normal? Anyone else?

It is totally normal to stall throughout this process.  Easier said than done, but try not to freak out about it.  Just work on following your plan and the weight will come off.

I was in the same place last week. I was very frustrated. Luckily I had an appointment wth my NUT and surgeon. They both told me I was not eating enough (calories). I was dumbfounded and nervous to try. My nutritionist said to move up to 800, then in a couple weeks 900. She wants me at a 1,000 to 1,200 range when I go back in six weeks. I waited a couple of days and tried it. Sure enough the weight started to come off. Eating more seems weird but it worked. Check with your nutitionist or surgeon. Good luck

I agree with both of these responses. ^^ It sounds like you are doing everything right, so try not to worry? Are you taking measurements? A lot of times, when you are not losing weight, you are losing inches. Good luck!

check out my blog!

My buddy had the surgery a year ago. He said he had three week stalls three different times. Basically, he said your body goes into starvation mode, where it tries to hold on to every calorie. Just remember it happens. But it's not permanent.

I'm a little late with my response but I hope it helps.  At 5 weeks out I had lost 22 lbs.  then it hit...the dreaded first stall.  I didn't lose any more for 4 weeks.  Devastation!  Then out of nowhere and for what seems like no reason since I really didn't change anything at all, I dropped 5 lbs in a couple days and have dropped another 8 in the past 2 weeks.  I'm at 11weeks out now and dropping quickly again.  At my 6weeks appointment, my doc stole me she wanted 12 more pounds off by my next appointment in 3 months.  She said she expected me not to lose for 1 of the 3 months and BAM It hit right away.  So now I've already lost her twelve and currently working on my twelve!.  Hang in there and try not to be discouraged.
