Does anyone know anything about weight loss & low white blood cell count. I was told...
I have a very low, way below the "normal" range, white blood cell count. It was low normal before surgery, which was almost 4 months ago. I was told by one doctor that low white blood cell count can happen after surgery & weight loss, but told by the blood/cancer specialist that there is nothing in moderate weight loss that could cause the bones not to produce white blood cells normally....there is no relationship between the two. What I am wondering from you folks...have any of you experienced this?
I would beleave the hematologist, he would know best
my white blood count was off before surgery and was set to a hematologist and he checked my blood work for the last 10 years and it was always off the same way so he said not to worry about it it was my normal
but since your got lower you need to get it checked out to see what is coursing it to get lower , low red blood cells are common with wls from lack of iron but not white cells
see another hematologist if he can't find a reason for it ,
ps most hematologists work in cancer center mine did
