Did anyone not quit smoking before surgery? If so did they have any effects?

I'm sure there are people who have done it, but you are really putting your life at risk by doing so. I am a recovering smoker. Trust me the surgeon can test you and refuse to operate if you don't quit. It is just too much of a gamble. Get some chantix if you have to, but quitting can be done. You can do it.

I quit almost a month ago in preparation for surgery.  No surgery date yet.  But it should be next month!  CAN'T WAIT!!  Super excited!!!!!

This is  something you really need to do like said above my surgeon does check to see if your smoking and will cancel on you and if you pick it back up after your put yourself at risk for infections big time....and   Abscess so not worth it!!!! :-)

smoking  compromises healing of tissues and can cause leaks and other healing problems post op. It makes the tissue very thin.
