Nausea?

I have a call in to my doctor, but thought I would post to see if nausea cropping up at six weeks out is common, or something to be concerned about? I've been feeling great, up until four days ago, when the nausea started and hasn't abated. It's difficult enough to get all the protein in when you're not hungry, but really hard when just thinking about food makes you sick!

Maggie.....I know in my early time with my WLS I was nauseated a lot.   In fact I'd often end up in the restroom loosing what I had eaten.    I think that is pretty normal unless something is "stuck".   I still think you've done the best thing by contacting your doctor.   I'm almost 9 yrs. post op and things have changed alot and I had a different WLS than you.   Good luck and hope and pray it's nothing.

I had a similar experience at about that time post op.  It wasn't really nausea, but the thought of food made me queasy.  Once I ate, I was ok, but I really didn't want to eat for some weeks/months. I did force myself to eat, as I was concerned about my health, being an older VSG'er.  The queasiness did pass, and I am quite normal in my feelings about food now.

best wishes,

Carol

Thanks, Vivian and Carol. Your experience sounds similar to mine. Last week, I was thinking how I just had really no interest in food. Then the nausea started, but it is mild. The thought of food just makes me sick, but when I eat, it goes down and stays down. So hopefully, this is just a phase!

I have experienced some nausea, coming in waves. It will be really bad for a few days then it will let up, then it will come back. I don't have it all the time and it's usually worse in the morning.

If I had to wager a guess, at least in my case, I think it's acid. But I'm sure it could be other things. I would like my doctor to prescribe zofran but he hasn't offered.

Thanks, Eliza! It's reassuring to know that the nausea doesn't mean something terrible is wrong!

I had the same experience at that point and noticed that it happened more when I didn't get enough fluids in.  Once I started drinking more water, it got better.  Good luck

I haven't done a great job of keeping up with the water. Thanks for your input!

I was experiencing nausea after eating, in particular, and it turned out I had gallstones.  Just had my gallbladder out last week. As of right now, I'm still dealing with the nausea but I'm hopeful it will resolve after my liver learns it's new job.

My nausea usually comes when I take my vitamins. I keep sugar-free hard candy in my purse so I can stave off the nausea though. That really helps.
