Do you feel full like you use to pre-op? Is there a certain senstaion. I'm two days out, do I have to let my stomach heel some before I feel it?

I am 20 days out and have not had any hungry pains what so ever and have not felt full. The only thing that I have every felt was when I eat to much or drank to fast.

First, congrats on your surgery !

Eating till full is NOT a good strategy pre-op or post op.... that's how most of us got fat....

Learning to recognize "satisfied" with a quantity that is "under your capacity"

Eating fixed/measured amounts of food that is under your capacity has a couple "major" advantages.

- You know what your eating and the nutritional values.

- Eating till full puts internal pressure in your sleeve...... constant over eating (eating till full) is about the only way to stretch your sleeve.

You will read about people eating till sneezing, burping, slimming, pain, throwing up..... All that is over eating.

You should be on liquids right now and you should not feel any restriction till you start solid foods..... Learn up on the function of the Pyloric Valve.... (I'll re-post)

Your sleeve right now is tender, swollen and the staple line is healing...... this is a critical time for healing, that's why the liquids.

Thanks for the great response and laying everything I need to know out there. I'm measuring everything and  I'm not having a hard time getting my liquids in.

That sense of restriction that we feel doesn't really kick in until you switch to solid foods.  So don't worry too much about it before then :D

Pre-op, feeling full meant that I felt "ridiculously stuffed and uncomfortable."  Now full is a pleasant sort of, "yup, I ate my measure portion and feel completely satisfied" feeling.

This early out, your stomach is still healing and you can't trust anything it tells you.  It's a lying liar that lies until your nerves are all healed.  This is why it's so important to weigh and measure everything before you eat, otherwise you risk damaging yourself.

Thanks for the explanation. I was worried because I have already gotten in my 64 ounces of water today and I've heard a lot of people struggle with that. I'm sure I'll be posting and askinh for advice again once I hit the soft food stage!!

I had zero trouble getting in my liquids and protein shakes post-op.  Which was pretty awesome since I was prepared to struggle with it after reading so many posts here!  We're the lucky ones :D

when I had the lap band, my signal to being satisfied, not "full" was a hiccup.  Some would notice just a sneeze or a yawn.  At thoses hints, you should stop eating, your body has had enough.

Nice tip, I'll watch for those triggers.
