Before & After Pictures
This board was the biggest help to me while planning my surgery, and in the months after. I would scour for before and after pictures, hoping and dreaming to be able to post the same. Haven't been on in probably a year or so, so I will be brief. Surgery was January 28, 2013. I'm 5/10, and started out at 321 pounds. I got down to 145.9, but am comfortable now, hovering around 150-153. Started as a size 26, and now can wear a 2, 4, or 6, depending what it is. Usually a size small.
I moved to a new city after getting down to 199, continued to lose, got the courage to meet new people, met the man of my dreams a few months later, and am recently engaged, getting married in November 2015. He's understanding, kind, and patient, while my brain works to catch up to my body. Surgery was what got me to put my life in motion. I knew in my heart it was the jumpstart, the tool I desperately needed. I thank my lucky stars every single day!
I do have some extra skin, especially in my arms and lower belly, but it's easy enough to conceal in most clothes, and I'm coming to terms with it. Youth has been on my side I believe.
I've by no means been perfect. I don't always eat as well as I should, and could stand to exercise more. However, the surgery is a tool that is only what you make it, and I'm learning every day. Transitioning from losing to maintaining has been a weird adjustment. It's been a struggle to adjust my self image to what's in the mirror. I have to say, shopping for clothes has gotten to a new hobby!
If you're on the fence about the surgery, think long and hard about it, it's a constant learning experience, and can really change your life. That being said, I would do it for myself again in a heartbeat, best $16,000 I ever spent ;)
Y'all make the cutest couple ever!!! I'm so happy for you. You look beautiful and happy!!
