OMG I miss my popcorn!!!  How long did you wait before you ate popcorn after surgery?

Didn't give it a thought till the weight was gone and firmly into maintenance.

I do have it on occasion now.....

Problem is.... ounce for ounce, popcorn has more calories and more carbs than straight up white bread !!!

Butter (oils/fats) add calories and do nothing to effect carbs....

I am not anti fat per-se, but in WL and maintenance you need to be conscious of both carb and calorie intake.

Sometimes the difference between WL and maintenance is added fat calories.

Popcorn is basically in the same category as bread, pasta, rice, potato.

If your plan allows those things and your doctor approves..... your golden !

I would wait a very, very long time. Forever if you can handle it. Not because I physically can't eat it, I'm sure I could, but because it's just a bad idea.

I waited to about 6 months before I tried it.  Now I may have it twice a month.  It's my treat to me!

I went to the movies with my hubs Friday, and the hardest thing was to NOT get popcorn.  I had a coupon for a free small for my bday, and so my hubby got it.

I did enjoy the movie, etc.  I think it's the hardest when you're at the counter LOL.  But the smell...that just makes it SO hard to be good!

I've eaten popcorn many many times since about 2 months out. I know it isn't ideal, but it works for me.

I have been eating popcorn since 8 weeks post surgery. I eat it frequently. As long as you are journaling your food and nutrition and meeting those goals, it isn't a problem. I am currently 5 months post surgery and have lost 73 pounds with another 28 to go!
