Victory and a warning

I was sleeved on 8-25-14.  My family made a goal of completing a 5K on Thanksgiving, three months post-surgery.  Last week, two months post surgery, I decided to try to jog the 5K for practice.  I did it.  Slow, but I did not walk a step.  Felt great.

Later that day, after some stress, I reached for the cottage cheese.  I ate too much. I hadn't tested my sleeve until then.  The message from my sleeve was loud and clear: don't over eat.  I was nauseous and uncomfortable for an hour.  I guess the good news was it was cottage cheese, not cheese cake!

Congratulations on your 5K victory! I have over done it once and it came back up. Not a fun situation!

This might be a TMI question, but my surgeon told me that the ones who it comes back up for are the lucky ones because they feel better quicker. Any thoughts, veterans?

I haven't been told that, but I felt better afterward.

Congrats on the run :D  I still can't do 5k running the entire time, but I'm getting better every day, and I did my first 5k race a few weeks ago :D

And now you know why a lot of us caution to MEASURE/WEIGH EVERYTHING, eh? :)

Yes, I'm pretty good at measuring and portion control (so far, I'm only two months out) but I was surprised at how fast I let stress turn into eating.  I didn't take a portion to the basement, I took way too much and "thought" I could use self-control.  It is a learning process, that's for sure.

I don't have any trust for my own self control at this point.  I hope that it'll come with time.
