Hungryin the evening

I am three months post op and am finding I get hungry at night. I get all my fluids in and my protein but am wondering if I should increase my calorie intake. I probably eat around 800-1000 calories a day but I do exercise daily. Anyone else have this. I have lost 70 lbs. since surgery on July 30th and have lost a total of 150 since starting this journey Feb. 4th. Any feedback will be helpful. I eat some almonds or a protein shake and this usually helps.

I've found that not all proteins are created equal. I get hungry quicker when I have fish. Chicken, on the other hand (dark meat), fills me quickly and for a looooong time. It also helps if i have a Premier Protein pre-made shake in the early evening (30 grams of protein). Good luck! You're doing great.

Thanks Meg, the shakes also help with fluid intake. This is new to me and trying to figure it out.

I get this sometimes but I think it may be acid. I have a cup of tea and that seems to take care of it.

Eliza, I don't think it's acid but might be. Never had problem with acid so I'm not sure.

Me too! Sometimes I just eat a cheese stick, nuts or a shake and other times I suck it up and go to bed hungry. Sucks! But old habits die hard and i was a huge nighttime eater- quite a bad habit!

Tlove, I am also thinking that. Always had a snack before bed so just might be. Also thinking since the weather is colder and darker earlier now I can't piddle around outside in my yard too late. Thanks for the input.

How about shifting your meals later in the day so that your dinner is eaten at the time of evening you find yourself getting hungry?

I get done work at 3 so waiting until 8 would not work. I still can't eat more than 4oz at a meal so may need   to add extra snack.I am choosing healthy snacks Thank God so in time I hope I can figure this out. Thanks.

You could shift your breakfast and lunch later as well?

For example, I wake up around 7:30am.  I have a shake (which is my breakfast), between 8-10am.  Exact time depends on what exercise I'm doing in the morning.  I eat a solid 4 ounce meal for lunch around 1-3pm.  Then I eat a solid 4 ounce dinner between 7:30-8:30pm.  I go to sleep between 10:30-11:30pm.

I have a snack a few times a week, but most days I'm fine with these three meals.  (And I exercise about 14 hours a week, so I'm fairly active!)
