Therapist

Hi all,

I have been reading a lot on OH about sleevers seeing a therapist. This is something I have considered. My question is should I see someone who specializes in eating disorders?  I am not sure where to begin.

I have been seeing a therapist for about 4 months. I started seeing a general therapist who was helping with job stress. But closer to my surgery date, I started seeing one that specializes in eatung disorders and body image. I am no expert on which type to see, but I figured the latter could helpme realize why I eat mindlessly.

I'm in the supervised weight loss part of my journey.  I've also been wondering this, so thank you for posting it.  I've been researching therapists in my area, but curious as to what type of therapist most find helpful.

I had been working with a general therapist until she retired and have now switched to one who specializes in eating disorders.  I highly recommend finding someone with that speciality -- they "get it".   I spent a lot of time educating my other therapist :-/

I think it's most important to find a therapist you click with than one who has a certain speciality.  But there are also no therapists around me who specialize in disordered eating so... I certainly get lots of benefit from my therapist!
