Sleeping after surgery--Bed or Recliner?

Just wondering if it was easier/more comfortable to sleep in a recliner versus a bed after surgery.  We live in a 2 story house and I'm just wondering if it is more comfortable to sleep downstairs in a recliner or if I will be better off going up the stairs to bed.  Also, we need to replace the chair in our living room and if a recliner is more comfortable I will sway that way in the purchase (even tho I think a lot of them are rather ugly.)  thanks!

I slept in bed. The stairs where not a problem. I took a pain pill before bed the first week.

I thought I would need a recliner too, but I slept comfortably in bed from the first night I was home. It was a good excuse to buy the new sofa and loveseat with recliners in each end though. Lol.

I did the recliner thing but only for the first few nights.

I slept in a bed without problems.

But I think you should buy new furniture because it's fun. I hate hubs recliner but he won't give it up.

I had to sleep in a recliner for over a week because I had so much internal incision pain in my abdomen and getting up from the bed was too painful.  Apparently, my situation was unique. The stairs won't be the issue, it will be how you are healing and your ability to sit up after the surgery.

I ordered a recliner to recover in but my surgeon moved my date up and it hasn't come in yet. I have been sleeping in bed. I can only sleep on my back as any other position hurts. I also discovered in the hospital that any other position but completely on my back caused my mouth to fly open defeating my nasal CPAP.

Bed for now, but once I get home it is recliner for me. So cannot get comfortable in a bed.

I slept in my bed from the first night. However, I did not run up and down the stairs if I wanted/needed a nap. In that case I slept in the recliner.
