Passable Protei n Shots

Now that I'm in my 5th week my protein intake requirement has jumped to 90+ grams. I can honestly say that most days I don't come near it. I'd like to beat it so that I can keep my hair and recover from workouts much quicker. With the busy workday, I'd love to be able to sip a Protein Shot in between meetings, but every review I see says that they taste like death.

The bodybuilders seem to always say they can down 4 oz in "2 Gulps" which I know won't be comfortable with a sleeve. Has anyone had a shot that they did not hate? Please share!

Most protein shots are made from collagen, which is a protein source that doesn't work very well for us.  So I'd pass on them.

For me, 90 grams of protein would be three shakes.

I tried the shots...so nasty!  Premier Protein is 30 gms in the RTD and is really quite good.  2 of those a day plus your regular food and you'd have your 90 gms!  Good luck!

I'm a Premier Protein lover. But after using them pre op and post op I got tired of them. I tried powders and other shakes but nothing compares. Now I try to keep it to one a day so that I don't get bored of them again. I struggle to get in breakfast due to hectic mornings. Looking for more drinkable options.

The problem with liquids is that they do nothing to fill you up or give you any sense of satisfaction.

Could you do yogurt?  Cheese?  Slices of lunch meat rolled around string cheese?  Pouches of tuna fish?

My NUT said no on protein shots.

I use protein shots. The one I use is whey isolate. I don't drink them straight up but add them to my water. I am currently drinking lovely fruit punch flavour. yum.

What protein shot do you use that is all whey isolate?

The only ones I've seen are a "blend" of Collagen, Casein and Whey

Collagen is always listed first, which means the product contains more Collagen then any of the other proteins. It was my understanding Collagen is basically jello and not the type of protein we need

are you aware that the first ingredient in these shots is collagen? That means they contain  more collagen than anything else.

While the second ingredient is whey isolate, there is no way to know how much is really in it. The smallest amount can be used and still be called " whey" isolate.

Hi Hollykim,  thanks, I didn't realise this. However, I did look at the one I am using and it did say 100 % whey isolate. No mention of collagen in the ingredients.  I live in Europe so perhaps they are made differently here. I will certainly look for this in the future.

Cheers

Kimberly
