Hot chocolate fail

I'm frost posting this from the RNY forum in case any of you have some good ideas:

I've read in this forum before that some of you drink sugar free hot chocolate with unflavored protein powder mixed in.  I tried it this morning and it was an epic fail.  The powder didn't mix well (used half a scoop) and it tasted terrible.  Was it possibly the brand?  I have GNC unflavored protein powder.  Is the Unjury brand much better?  I choked it down, lumps and all, but yuck!

Opti-fast has a really good mint hot chocolate with all the protein already in there!  It has 15 gms in a cup.

You'll need to separately dissolve your protein powder

in a little cold water then add your hot chocolate..

I whisk the powder into the cold water ( in the mug I'm going to drink   out of)

then add my already mixed hot chocolate (i do that in a separate measuring cup)

rapidly whisking the whole time.. Should come out lump free..

You need to temper it :)  Just like you would to add eggs to a hot dish if you wanted to prevent curdling.

The other suggestions explained it - add a little water, then pour the ho****er in a little at a time and stir.  You can do it :D

Because I do not like shakes, I mix my chocolate protein powder with one packet of Swiss Miss 25 calorie hot chocolate, four pumps of Torani SF syrup, and mix into a paste. I let it sit while I boil water. I let the water cool for a bit, because it doesn't mix as well when the water is that hot. When I slowly pour the water, or decaf coffee, I mix constantly to make it as smooth as possible. Most of the time it blends fairly well. Sometimes it doesn't, but those are the breaks. When it blends well, the hot cocoa is rich and chocolately.

I also mix vanilla whey isolate, such as Jay Robb or Syntax Nectar, with plan no fate Greek yogurt. This is generally a lunch at work. Packs about 38-42 gms of protein, depending on the type of Greek yogurt and protein powder you use.
