Post op questions

I will be two weeks post op tomorrow and I just developed a crazy itchy rash around my incisions. It looks like hives and is only where the tape was. Is it possible to have an allergic reaction to the tape two weeks later? I will call my doctor tomorrow, but I was wondering if anyone experienced the same thing and if so do you have any suggestions?

My other question is regarding puréed foods. I am supposed to start that phase tomorrow and I was wondering what would be the best food to start with. They really didn't give suggestions at the doctor's office. They just said to see what I could tolerate. Any thoughts?

During the purée phases I loved chili, white chicken chili, egg drop soup, beef stew. Good luck.

The first thing I tried was scrambled egg.

Don't go spicy.

This is a silly question, but do I need to purée the scrambled eggs? The would seem to be pretty smooshy to begin with.

Totally possible.  And definitely something to call your doc about.  You might need a course of prednisone or some topical to help.

My first pureed food was hardboiled eggs with avocado.  It was delicious.  Here's a list of everything else I ate - http://myvsg.livejournal.com/37151.html

I did sugar free puddings with protein powder mixed in. Cottage cheese was good too. Eggs, even scrambled were hard for me. Not sure why but I couldn't eat eggs for a couple of months. Just my experience. Good luck.

Oooooh, Michele!  I hadn't even considered refried beans! :)  Thanks for that one (I'm on soft foods, too)...
