2 Days Post Op

Hi!  I've been lurking since I started my journey 7 months ago.  I had my sleeve surgery on 12/3.  I had a rough time with nausea and headaches, but I'm feeling good today.   I'm sipping and walking.  However, I'm very hungry.  Is this normal?   I'm on clear liquids until Monday, when I can start 3 protein shakes a day.

I've been hungry since I had my surgery 17 days ago. We are not suppose to be and no one has the answer. Some say it's acid and to increase the PPI but my surgeon said no. I'm just hoping as I heal the hunger stops. It's hard. Good luck to you! I had headaches and nausea the first two days , too. I feel good now though except for the hunger.

It frustrates me that your surgeon's advice is contrary to the advice so many of us receive about PPIs and acid.  There's no reason you should be suffering with hunger right now.  

Are you taking a PPI such as prilosec or nexium?  Most often hunger is really just acid which mimics hunger.  

I got protonix in my IV yesterday and today I started with 40 mg of omeprazole.  I open the capsule into 1 tsp of applesauce.

My surgery was Dec 4th and I had a little nausea and pain, but the hospital kept me medicated. I'm home now and feeling a little hungry. Only because I was on liquid before surgery and now liquid after. But we need to take is slow. Good luck on your recovery. Christine

Im eating creamy soups, sf puddings and jello...it seems to be curbing my appetite nicely  :)
