500 mg of calcium is not nearly enough.  And the only want to check your calcium is with a DEXA bone scan - your blood will leach calcium from your bones and blood work will show that your calcium is fine even when it's not as a result.

Doesn't you surgeon have a plan for you?  I also take calcium citrate.  NOT Caltrate. But calcium citrate. On top of that, because my blood work showed low vitamin D, I take one capsule of that per week.

Recommendations for post-VSG patients are a multi-vitamin, B12 (only if indicated - my numbers are great and I don't need it), calcium citrate, Vit D3.

In addition to these, I take fish oil, biotin and some zinc.

I take a multi, a b12, d3 (2000mg) calcium citrate. (Caltrate does make a calcium citrate but you gotta be careful and read the label to make sure you get it. I use  chewy one I forget which, maybe bariatric advantage). I had issues when I tried to go back on fish oil, I will try again in a few weeks. I just added biotin.

I take a multivitamin 3x/day. It is high in A,D and K. I do 500 mg of calcium 3/day, B12 injection 1/month and I find out today if I have to add back in Iron.

Yes, the ASMBS says we need 1500mg of Calcium CITRATE (not carbonate) a day.  We need to space them out and take 500mg at a time, no closer than 2 hours together.  I prefer the Bariatric Advantage peanut butter chocolate chewables.  They're like my post-meal dessert ;)

Here's a list of the vitamins I take:

#1 Calcium
#2 Multi, Calcium 500mg, Vitamin D 5000IU, Vitamin K 500mcg alternated with Vitamin K Complex 2200mcg, Probiotic
#3 Multi, Calcium
#4 Iron 125mg, Vitamin C 1000mg
In shake: current frankenshake ingredients (b12 goes in my shake)
In water:

Why does it have to be calcium citrate? Calcium carbonate absorbs better I've read?
