My surgery was at 11:30 am, I was home by 5:00 p.m.  I had someone with me at home the first night, but it wasn't really necessary.  Pain was manageable with liquid Tylenol w/codeine.  Day 3, I had some internal stitch pain that truly didn't subside until week 6.  That is not typical.  Many people do not experience this.  I returned to my desk job on Day 7, but was pretty tired through the first few days, but it wasn't miserable.

Laproscopic is the way to go.  Very quick recovery and much, much cheaper, I'm sure!

I had my surgery at 1:30 pm on a Friday and I was discharged the following Saturday by 2:00. My doctor required a one night stay. I had surgery Friday and I was able to drive my Mom & myself to church that Sunday. I think I had a very easy recovery. I know others weren't as lucky. My biggest complaint was being bloated. I didn't have to take any pain meds. I returned to work one week later and I have being doing great since then!

I had surgery Thursday morning and was home Friday evening.  I was well enough to go to a movie the following weekend and well enough for most everything the week after.  I was only allowed to walk (no weights, no elliptical, no lifting more than a few pounds) for the first 6 weeks post-op.

I had surgery on a Thursday morning and was discharged on Saturday.  My recovery was complication free, but I found sleeping in any position except on my back to be extremely uncomfortable.  Total pain lasted about a week but I was REALLY exhausted so took off 3 weeks from work and slept ALOT.

I had surgery on a Monday, mandatory one night in ICU, one night in regular room, home on Wednesday. Stayed home from work through the following week, wish I had gone part time for the third week of recovery.  I also had two painful spots - one where the instruments went in and took out the stomach and another on my back (pulled muscle from position during surgery).  I found relief with a post-partum belt.  I think there are alot of factors including weight and age.

Thanks for the reply! Your relief with the post-partum belt is very helpful!

I had my surgery on September 29th and was home on October 1st. I was allowed to leave on the 30th, but I was in a lot of pain the next morning. I didn't stay caught up on my pain medicine which is why I decided to stay. Honestly, the pre-op diet is worse than the entire surgery/recovery. I was feeling normal after the first week. I didn't go back to work for 2 weeks (I stand all day), but I was able to leave the house and walk around by the 3rd. Good luck!
