bowel issues

Fluids and fat are key items to get things moving.  If you've been trying to do low fat and high protein at the same time - voila!  I wasn't as patient as you were about it though.  The quack nutritionist was preaching high protein/low fat, and by my second bout of constipation, I decided to eat full fat (not extra fat - just didn't eat anything manufactured to be low fat), and I've not been consitpated a single time since.

Marbeled meats, like ribeye

Full fat cheese

Ricotta cheese - the mother of all things holy, creamy, and high in protein.

Half and half instead of milk.

Definitely use the Miralax.  Also when you are further out--I swear by the protein/fiber bars that are out now.  They do have some carbs, but let me tell you I have never had such productive bowel movements in my life.  I eat one a day, and it is amazing to me that this is something I should of been doing a long, long time ago.

I'm almost 11 months out and still struggle with constipation. I've found that I need to take colace every day to keep myself regular. Even then,  sometimes I get pretty backed up and need extra senna or a bisacodyl supp. Just be careful with some laxatives,  always check with your doctor before trying something new.

Bran Buds are my best friend.

1/4 cup with my Greek yogurt everyday.

Lots of water and exercise help.

I suffered after surgery until my nut told me the bran buds secret.

If I don't poop in the morning, I add Miralax to my protein shake that day.  I have to do this a few times a month and it works out well.  Miralax is a non-stimulant laxative and non-addicting.
