Is this normal?

I'm 3 1/2 weeks post VSG.  I went back to work this week (4days) at a desk job.  I've been feeling great all week.  Today I have zero energy.  I'm so exhausted and can't get off the couch.  I'm on Phase 3 and have 2 protein shakes a day, 2-3 oz cottage cheese puréed as a snack and about 3 oz protein/1 oz veggies (puréed) for dinner.  I'm taking all my vitamins, get 60-75oz protein a day, and get about 50 oz liquid in.  I know I need more liquids...I'm trying...

is it normal to feel this way?

Yes.  You just had major surgery 3.5 weeks ago.  Your poor body is trying to catch up and adjust.  Rest when you can.

Yes, seems normal. I was very tired for the first month and was not working. Just make yourself drink more water. I know it's hard but the more plain water you drink the better you will feel and the more you will lose. Good Luck!!

Fatigue is a very common symptom of dehydration.  Count your lack of proper hydration against your new activity while you're still recovering, and yeah, your'e tired!  64oz is your daily hydration goal, from the minute they remove the IV from your arm.  It's not something you work up to.  I get in 64oz of fluids before lunchtime.  Now go take another sip of something.

I think this is normal. I went back to work after 3 weeks, lots of walking and minimal lifting and I was beat for a month or so after I returned to work. It was major surgery, it takes a while for all your energy to return. Try your best to get your liquids in though.

I had surgery 12/2. Overall i have had crazy energy and even went back to work early. That said, I have had 2 or 3 days where I couldn't even lift my arms to dry my hair. I figure its all about your body adjusting to a) major surgery and b) a significant reduction in caloric intake.

Hope you're doing well overall and that you get your energy back soon.

Even  though i am not scheduled for my surgery until Jan 13th, i have seen several posts that people use "zipfizz" in their water for energy. Only 10 calories and full of vitamin B-12.  you can order online. I plan to get some myself. Hope this helps! and Congrats on your surgery!
