Happy New Year to everyone! I have a concern...today I've been coughing a little every now and then.  But in the past two hours I've been coughing more frequently and I'm getting scared.  What would happen if I can't stop. I'm sucking on halls and it makes it better, but then again is it ok? Would cough drops irritate my new tummy?

any advise?

IF YOU JUST HAD Surgery in the last week or 2 I would call my surgeon , I would be concerned  about phemonia  which is common after surgery , I doght the cough drops would do any harm and a little coughing is good it keeps your lungs clear

If you are concerned about anything, call your surgeon. Did they give you one of those breath measuring things to take home after surgery (can't remember the name of it, but you stick the little mouth piece in your mouth and you breathe in long and steady and a slider moves up to show your progress). This device is supposed to help keep your lungs clear and strong. Also, if your tummy incisions are sore from coughing, press a pillow against your abdomen as you cough.

Hi, Julie.  First off, congratulations!

I agree with what everyone else has said.  If you're nervous, CALL YOUR DOCTOR.  That's why they are there.  It could be GERD, it could be something more.  I would be careful with how many Halls you take because they are fairly harsh.  Call the doc when they open this morning.  You should at the very least be able to talk to the nurse and get a plan of action.  You don't want to go through the weekend with no guidance!

Hi guys, just got off the phone with my Dr. He said not to worry the cough will not hurt the sleeve, to keep hydrated, and it's safe to use halls lemon honey flavor.  After more reassurance he said if anything to call him back. I feel a lot better now.😊
