Women - Swimsuit suggestions?
Hi there, fellow female VSGers. Any suggestions for swimsuit ideas post surgery and post weight loss? I'm not talking bikini here - no WAY you'll see me in a bikini - that would take extensive plastic surgery! Honestly, I'm not all that hung up on that concept. However, I'm sadly finding that the tops of my thighs are really NOT a pretty sight, and I'm finding myself feeling pretty self-conscious about swim suits. I have a unitard that I found that I've used for exercising in the pool, but somehow that doesn't feel like the right choice for hanging out at the pool or the beach.
I'd be interested in hearing any suggestions the rest of you have found.
I have found one-piece suits with a little flounce at the bottom, perfect for covering up just the very tops of my thighs. I don't care for skirted suits because the "skirt" is too long, IMO, but a little 3-inch or 4-inch flounce is just right. I also like some ruching in the torso. I've found suits I like on QVC (although I'm shocked - shocked I say! - at the prices of bathing suits these days!).
Hi Paula,

They have swim shorts for women now. That's what I plan to get for this summer - that and a tanktini top and you will be covered up and comfortable. It is nice that pretty much everything is mix and match now. Plus, with two pieces, there won't be the lovely gymnastics in the bathroom stall to get the stupid suit back on!
Lands End has great swimsuits. I love the skirt bottoms. If you are busty then check out Cyberswim. THey are pricey but have great tops for larger busts. My biggest issue is that I am tall. WHen you get a smaller suit it is progressively smaller. I have no choice but to go with tankini tops and bottoms. Top from Cyberswim and bottoms from Lands End.
try wearing a sarong or a the kind that has a skirt on the bottom.

Thank you all for the excellent suggestions! I have been browsing around and am thinking I may try to go try some things on at stores to get a better idea of what I like best, even if I ultimately order online. I'm leaning towards the board shorts idea, but I'll be curious to see how they fit. They didn't fit me too well 130 pounds ago.
I really like a number of the suits at Modcloth. Since they're retro they tend to be more "modest" which might fit your desires!
