i was sleeved on Monday jan 19th. Came home on Wednesday but had to come home with drain still in. I'm having hard time drinking anything. Every little sip either hurts going down or feels like it could possibly come back up. Im hoping that these symptoms can also be normal and that within a few days I'll start feeling better. My chest has tightness and good lord am I sore.

You might want to try experimenting with liquids.  Some people have better luck with hot tea or with crystal light instead of plain water, or propel.  Keep trying things out until you find something that works!  All walk as much as you can - it'll help with the soreness.

And call your surgeon's office to ask if what you're feeling is normal.

Hi, I was just sleeved myself on Jan 14th, I experienced the same feeling the fist few days and still do, walking has helped a lot. I would suggest for you to make sure you are sitting in an upright position when drinking anything also don't give up I know the pain is horrible the first few days but it gets better. Good luck!

Post-op I found that room temperature was the only way anything was going down. Also, sounds totally stupid, but standing up helped me too. It didn't "hurt" when I stood up and seemed to head straight down. Just small sips and walk as much as you can. It's hard, I know, but it's the best you can do to heal faster.

I'm not sure if you have tried sugar free jello or popscicles, but I loved them the first week post op!! I still love the popscicles and I'm almost three months. They are great way for you to get your liquids in.

Popsicles were great in the beginning.   That and ice chips.

Hi!

I have a similar post; because I was feeling the same way. I've learned that taking pain meds around the clock is helping, I don't wait until I feel pain.

I also drink everything at room temperature. I was a girl who HAD to have ice in everything so that was a change. And just drinking what my body craves at the moment, which is mostly water.

I'm not getting all my protein yet but I won't worry or force it for a few more days still. Others have said this was ok, even my nurse. Also, I have to drink standing or sitting straight up. It's a little painful still to do that but not as much as laying down.

I truly hope it gets better for us both! Don't give up. Better days are coming! :)
